Our Staff
Dean Rodney Longmire – Headmaster and Teacher – the Reverend Longmire comes to ACA with a background in ministry, education and business. He is currently serving as Pastor of Covenant Reformed Episcopal Church in Roanoke, Virginia and also as Dean of the Convocation of Virginia representing Bishop Leonard Riches and Bishop David Hicks. He is Warden of New Covenant Schools in Lynchburg and one of three Reformed Episcopal clergy serving on that board. As Chief of Chaplains for the Virginia Defense Force, Col. Longmire is responsible for the recruiting and training of an expanding Chaplain Corps. He is married and has four daughters. Dean Longmire will be teaching grades fourth through ninth in addition to his duties as Headmaster.
Mrs. Jane Jones –Grammar Instructor- Mrs. Jones has extensive experience teaching in private and Christian schools at every grade level. Additionally she has co-authored a research paper accepted for presentation at the annual meeting of the American Sociological Association. Mrs. Jones is from an 'education family' and her husband the Rev'd Royce E (Chip) Jones, was recently hired as an instructor in mathematics and coach at Virginia Episcopal School. Rev'd and Mrs. Jones are Baptist in Christian practice and have two teenage sons. Mrs. Jones is currently teaching grades kindergarten through second at ACA.
Mrs. Stacey Torrence – Language Arts Instructor- Mrs. Torrence has extensive experience in classical education having taught at New Covenant Schools in Lynchburg. In addition to her classroom experience, Mrs, Torrence has also coordinated and provided instruction for Home School students. Mrs. Torrence is married to Micah Torrence and they have four children, three of whom attend ACA. Mrs. Torrence provides language instruction to grades three through nine.
Rev'd Rusty Small – Adjunct Faculty in Latin Instruction - Rev'd Small is currently serving as Associate Pastor at Liberty Baptist Church in Appomattox and is a PhD candidate working towards a degree in Biblical Theology. Rev'd Small will be teaching Latin to students in grades four through nine.
Bryan Baine – Librarian – Bryan worked for 7 years in the film library at American University in Washington, DC and has been published in serveral library science journals. He taught for 6 years in the American University literature department and received the Jane Stanhope Award for Outstanding Teaching in 2000. He was on Young Life staff from 1986 to 1992. Young Life is a nondenominational ministry to high school students in Saranac Lake, NY.
